What happens after a referral?
- An appointment will be offered to the client for an Initial Assessment Interview. This interview will be with a trained worker.
- At the weekly team meeting assessments are discussed and suitable treatment options decided.
- The client is then advised of the decision, be it allocation of a Keyworker in either Nursing or Counselling and Therapeutic Services, referral for detoxification, a meeting with the consultant psychiatrist or referral to our Adult Outreach Servic
More than one of these options may be appropriate, so clients can receive more than one service at the same time. Equally during engagement with the Service the needs of the Client may change and they will be offered treatment options as necessary. All cases are constantly reviewed.
- We will keep you informed of progress with the client.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S SERVICES
WHAT CAN DRINKSENSE OFFER YOU?
We can deliver formal alcohol awareness and harm minimisation information in a variety of settings, which include schools, youth clubs and other youth settings. In schools Drinksense can offer a fresh perspective to your students, designed to complement your teaching strategy. Key themes within the education and prevention work include:
- Alcohol and risk taking behaviour
- Alcohol, sexual health and teenage pregnancy
- Alcohol and anti-social behaviour
- Alcohol awareness, knowledge, attitudes and skill development
We also offer support to those working with young people to identify ways to improve awareness about the risks associated with alcohol misuse. We can provide individual advice and information for those young people who may have concerns about their own or are affected by someone else's drinking.
The Drinksense Intensive Assertive Outreach Worker works on a one-one basis with young people with complex needs such as tenancy issues and unplanned pregnancy.
We accept referrals by e-mail, fax, letter or telephone.
Training to Trainers (T2T) This innovative programme provides training for professionals working with young people who could be vulnerable to substance misuse. It enables staff to identify, support and refer young people onto substance misuse advice or other appropriate services.
The training is run in partnership with Bridgegate Drug Services.
Training looks at knowledge, skills and attitudinal exercises covering both drugs an alcohol. T2T also offers ongoing mentoring support, once the initial training has been delivered.
For more information about T2T and to find out what the charge for the service is, please see our contact page and Young People's Section.
